eFoil Safety for Beginners: Checklist Before Your First Ride

A good first session begins before entering the sea. Suitable depth, a clear area, correct safety equipment and a clear briefing matter more than taking off quickly.

01

Choose deep, clear water

The mast and wings sit below the board, so shallow water, rocks and vegetation create serious risk. Do not power the system until the equipment is in sufficient depth.

The riding zone must be separated from swimmers, divers, moored vessels and busy boat traffic.

  • sufficient depth
  • no rocks or weed
  • no swimmers or divers
  • clear return route
02

Wear a helmet and suitable flotation vest

A helmet and flotation or impact vest reduce risk during falls. The remote should be secured correctly and its safety functions explained before starting.

The rider must know how to release the trigger and stop propulsion immediately.

03

How to fall safely

When balance is lost, move away from the board and fall to the side rather than trying to stay on at all costs.

After a fall, first locate the board and other people, then approach from a safe side.

  • fall away from the board
  • release power immediately
  • never jump toward the foil
  • check the area before restarting
04

When to postpone the session

Strong wind, waves, thunderstorms, poor visibility or heavy traffic are unsuitable for a beginner. A calm morning normally provides easier control and fewer boats.

If conditions are unsafe, move the booking rather than forcing the session to continue.
